Day 109: Recording Videos

I asked my students to film an object falling (something like the above), analyze it in Logger Pro, and tell me if that object reached terminal velocity in the video. Most students dropped objects sufficiently dense and heavy over sufficiently short distances that the answer was “no”. Here’s the type of video the best were getting:

Some kids are still struggling with filming from a steady camera position and others with scaling. Given that this is the third thing they’ve been asked to analyze, I’m proud of everyones’ progress.

Since we were also wrapping up various other projects started this week (Flappy Bird analysis, Mythbusters’ Penny Drop investigation, and classwork), many lab groups didn’t have a chance to finish this investigation, so we’re punting it until Monday.
