Day 88: A Favorite Circuits Lab

Wednesday, 8 January 2014

The centerpiece of this lab: homemade resistor blocks for students to read with a digital multimeter.

We got into the data collection phase of the Resistors in Circuits lab using the resistor blocks above. Students have to calculate the equivalent resistance then compare that to a measured value. All-in-all, a satisfying lab experience that nicely reinforces the circuits practice we’ve been doing.

Resistor detail for the first 3 blocks. I needed these pictures on a snow day earlier this week and didn’t have them yet — gah! Keeping them here in case I need them next year.

Additional resistor detail.

Final resistor blocks in detail.
