Day 56: Critical Angles

I’ve taught the kids about the index of refraction and Snell’s ibn Sahl’s Law, we made a beaker disappear in a bath of baby oil, and we even explored scientifically accurate forms of invisibility. I neglected to talk about critical angle though there were a few homework problems on the topic. This threw my kids off!

The most resourceful among them looked it up online and worked the problems flawlessly.

I got a bunch of emails Sunday about the HW problem pictured above, so I crafted the following warmup to use today. The warmup was effective at leading us into a brief discussion on the topic.
