Most of my classes got going today on the Flat Mirror Lab (PDF | Word). This lab is really satisfying though kids always struggle with the first part — drawing sight lines back to the virtual image. I want them to see that the image distance is equal to the object distance.

They really dig the third section where I have them build a mirror maze using the law of reflection & a protractor. Something about setting up mirrors and me dropping a laser line on their paper for the first time to test their calculations is super wonderful.
